Safety in Washington, D.C.

We would like to remind attendees that while Washington D.C. is a beautiful city with a great deal to experience, it is an urban area with many of the same challenges that other major metropolitan areas face. It is our goal that your IDWeek experience be educational, inspiring and career-building, and we also want you to be safe. We encourage you to be smart and be safe while walking between your hotel and the convention center and while exploring the city.

  • Remove your IDWeek badge when walking to/from the Convention Center
  • Keep your eyes up, your ears open and your phone down while walking.
  • Make sure you know where you are going before you head out and, if possible, travel with a colleague.

We encourage you to report any safety concerns to either security or IDWeek staff at any time during the meeting.
