ECCMID-IDWeek Fellows Exchange Program

IDWeek has partnered with the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) to create a Fellows Exchange Program. Through the program, two US fellows will be selected to present a case report from their own institution with a panel of experts at the 2019 ECCMID scheduled for April 13-16, 2018 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The deadline to complete a submission is Wednesday, November 28, 2019.

Those selected will have their registration, hotel, and airfare covered by ECCMID.

Requirements

All submitting/presenting authors must complete and upload a cover letter and consent form stating:

  • that he or she is enrolled as a fellow in an ID training program
  • that he or she is a current member of one of the IDWeek partner societies for 2019
  • the case has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere
  • that no confidential patient information is revealed (see HIPAA Regulations and list of 18 identifiers that must be removed)
  • that if the case includes an image of a physical finding, a signed consent form from the patient or legal guardian has been obtained and is on file
  • the units and reference ranges for all laboratory tests are specified

Each submitted case should include a max of two images that illustrate important teaching points related to infectious diseases. Examples:

  • fungal and mycobacterial infections
  • viral infections
  • bacterial infections
  • parasitic diseases
  • infections of immunocompromised hosts
  • tropical infectious diseases

When submitting a case, you will be asked to select one category from the following topics:

  • bacterial infections
  • fungal infections
  • viral infections (other than HIV)
  • parasitic infections
  • other

The deadline to complete a submission is Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 5 p.m. EDT.  Incomplete cases will be deleted without consideration.

Checklist

Each submission must include:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Degree(s)
  • Year in fellowship
  • Institution
  • Program Director
  • Clinical Supervisor for the submitted case
  • Category (Bacteriology, Viral, Parisitology, Fungal, Other)
  • An abstract of the case (max 500 words) .
    • Be sure to include an introduction, the case, and discussion. You do NOT need to include headers or references.
    • **IMPORTANT** Do not include your name or affiliation  in the case report you submit. Cases will be reviewed “blindly” to help ensure a fair and unbiased review of your case submission.
    • A max of two (2) images is allowed
