What is IDWeek?
A. IDWeek is the annual scientific meeting where infectious diseases professionals can meet, share experiences, and develop collaborations.
- With the theme—Advancing Science, Improving Care—IDWeek features the latest science and bench-to-bedside approaches in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and epidemiology of infectious diseases, including HIV, across the lifespan.
- IDWeek is the combined annual meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA), and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS).
Who should participate?
IDWeek is geared toward healthcare professionals in infectious diseases and healthcare epidemiology and prevention, including researchers, clinicians, quality and patient safety practitioners, epidemiologists, and public health officials, including those who see HIV and pediatric patients. It is a must-attend meeting for professionals who want to stay current, apply state-of-the-art science to clinical care, and excel in their own careers.
What does IDWeek offer? What will I learn?
IDWeek offers healthcare professionals in infectious diseases and related disciplines unparalleled access to credible research and innovative practitioners. IDWeek features sessions that present advances in basic, translational, and clinical research in infectious diseases and healthcare epidemiology, including a focus on HIV and pediatric populations. The meeting provides state-of-the-art updates on key topics and issues.
Where will the meeting take place?
IDWeek will be held in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, located at 1101 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19107, from October 21-25, 2020.
What is the deadline to submit an abstract?
The submission deadline is June 18 at 5 p.m. EDT. The late breaker submission deadline is Wednesday, September 10, 5 p.m. EDT.
How can I secure my hotel?
Attendees will be able to secure a hotel during the online registration process. View the list of properties.
Please note: IDWeek.org is the official site of the conference and Experient is the Official Housing Provider for IDWeek 2020. IDWeek has worked diligently with the hotels in Philadelphia, PA to establish room blocks for attendees and exhibitors. Improper solicitation of hotel reservations from any company or housing provider other than Experient is not approved by IDWeek. Reservations made by unaffiliated organizations may appear to be for lower rates; however they may be illegitimate, have unreasonable cancellation or change penalties, or be completely non-refundable. IDWeek cannot guarantee your housing if you purchase housing from these organizations. Please be aware of, and report, any unauthorized solicitation to IDWeek.
Will there be shuttle bus service?
Shuttle bus services are not planned at this point in time.
How do I obtain a letter of invitation and visa?
A printable letter of invitation will be available when registration opens.We do not assist in the visa application process. IDWeek will be registered as an international meeting with the International Visitors Office.
How do I obtain a W-9 tax form?

Are there funding or travel grants available?
IDWeek is unable to provide financial assistance beyond the award opportunities available to those participants who submit an abstract or case.

Does IDWeek provide child care or nursing facilities?
IDWeek does not provide childcare.
Nursing mothers stations will be located in the convention center. More information will be provided closer to the conference. Children are welcome to accompany attendees in the Exhibit Hall with a signed release, which will be available at the VIP registration desk, and infants are permitted in session rooms.
During the housing and registration process, those attending IDWeek meeting with family members providing childcare, can select to reserve more than one room when registering for IDWeek. Please include a note requesting adjoining rooms, so we can facilitate with the hotel.
We recognize these measures do not solve the challenges faced by attendees with young children, but we hope they provide assistance. Please contact info@idweek.org with any questions.
Will meeting materials be mailed in advance?
No, you will be able to print your attendee badge and pick up your meeting materials onsite. In an effort to save paper, printed final programs are not automatically given to each attendee, but must be requested during the online registration process.
What does a spouse/guest badge include?
Spouses/or others who register as guests are allowed access to the exhibit and poster halls. They will not be permitted to attend scientific sessions. Guests must be added to an IDWeek attendees registration and passes cost $100 for each day.
Will there be a job board?
Healthecareers will likely have a job board available at their booth in the exhibit hall. A networking event/job fair is typically scheduled.
What is the cancellation policy?
Registration and Housing Cancellation and Substitution Policy
DEADLINE: September 18
REGISTRATION: IDSA, HIVMA, SHEA, and PIDS members are eligible for a refund of their registration fees only. Cancellations must be in writing and received at Experient by mail, fax, or e-mail at idsa@experient-inc.com no later than September 18 to be eligible for a refund, less a $75 processing fee. Requests received after September 18 will not be accepted. As the COVID-19 situation evolves, this policy may be revised.
Substitutes from one individual to another are not allowed.
Nonmember registration and guest fees are nonrefundable. As the COVID-19 situation evolves, this policy may be revised.
HOUSING: Please refer to the individual hotel cancellation policy. This varies by hotel.
Last day to make changes, cancels and new reservations (based on availability) is October 7, 2020 at 5:00 PM EST. Beginning Oct. 13, 2020 please contact hotel directly.
Will SHEA, IDSA, PIDS, and HIVMA each have its own track?
IDWeek will present opportunities for members of all four organizations to meet their own unique educational needs, as well as share insights and expertise with colleagues on cross-cutting issues. Sessions will cover bench-to-bedside advances in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and epidemiology for pediatric, adult, and HIV populations. Watch for the Interactive Program in May to view each track; Adult ID, Epidemiology and Infection Control, Global ID, HIV-STD-TB, Investigator ID, Transplant ID, and Pediatric ID.
